New Opera Hero

New Opera Hero is a London-based group that connects concert, art installation, stage performance and new technology within the structure of a band. By composing music, story, visuals and movement simultaneously, their concerts are transformed into intoxicating multi -disciplinary installations.

Driven by this orchestration of art forms and connected by new interactive technology, New Opera Hero move between music genres from opera to electronica and beyond. Their songs deal with observations that can go beyond the human sphere, deep into the fabric of matter itself.

New Opera Hero was formed in 2007 by Steff Ungerer and Mike Wilson who have been at the forefront of audio/visual productions for more than ten years. Their credits include work for opera, theatre and festivals as well as TV, video games and art installations around the world. The first exclusively composed, written and designed New Opera Hero work was ‘Parallel Observations’. Extracts were performed in Cairo for a select audience before it premiered at the Royal Opera Liege, Belgium in May 2009, to more than a thousand people. The show was performed by members of the Liege Opera and NOH. New Opera Hero are currently experimenting with tactile systems that will add another dimension to their shows: stimulation experienced through the skin. New Opera Hero are winners of the MAMAs 2010 Grand Award.
