Ki-Ra

KI-RA (Kira Zhigalina), born in Moscow, lives and works in London, UK.  Ki-Ra works in various media including film, video, sound, installation and holographic projection. She has created visuals for London Zoo, Secret Cinema and Musion as well as for opera productions, clubs, and music artists in London, Tokyo and Moscow.

Her artistic interest lies primarily in examining subconscious and conscious appreciation of forms, and visualizing the space in between, where archetypes feed into representations. The intention with her work is to create a visual language or experience that can communicate on emotional and subconscious levels. Ki-RA won the Award for Performance at MAMAs 2010.

"Anima Mundi" is a visual performance exploring the archetypal nature of time within nature’s rhythms. A human being is part of an interconnected web of natural forces, and nature is the source of inspiration for all human creation. This is a time of transformation, a human being is capable even more so of creating his own world - whether it is a world of destruction or evolution it is for us to decide.
