Iota-scope is a live visual performance played out within a series of microscopic water droplets that drive a journey in distorted scales through time & inner space.
Live microscope projections transform the stage area into vast interiors of alien worlds where rich communities of strange creatures & otherworldly shapes form immersive, energetic panoramas.
The audience is engulfed within micro-oceans where swarms of single celled Paramecium predators hunt herds of countless bacteria, ceaseless hordes of Micro-Worms writhe in a constant search for new food sources and fragments of algae reveal themselves as epic forests of miniature proportion.
Rear projections set up a series of background planes to create a sense of depth & dimension.
A one-off installation performance for Kinetica 2012, Iota-scope forms part of an ongoing project by moving image specialists Shroomstudio, continuing the exploration of the natural world through scale and re-contextualisation of living and digital systems. Previous installations include Evolution Synthetica at the V&A Museum, Planet Micromeda at Shoreditch Studios & Digital Micromeda for Rooms Art Magazine
