Trope Scope

One, two, three...(Carol MacGillivray, Bruno Mathez & Frederic Fol Leymarie)

A hybrid artwork that marries traditional craft media and processes together with digital developments, One, two, three... is an experiment in choreographed time; part time-based mixed-media and part sculpture that explores embodied perception through the interface and overlap of analogue and digital technologies.

In One, two, three..., time is converted to space, using the diasynchronic technique, thus creating an embodied three-dimensional audio-visual experience that has been described as producing “a sense of magic, of other-worldliness, that I haven’t seen or experienced in an artwork before” and as “visual music in space: interesting, embodied and exotic”.

Trope Scope consists of the artists/researchers Carol MacGillivray and Bruno Mathez, and is the art arm of the hybrid Diasynchronoscope science/art project in screenless animation developed in collaboration with Prof. Frederic Fol Leymarie at Goldsmiths, University of London.
